LUCAS COLOMBO CARBONE

Lucas M. Colombo Carbone is an Argentine visual artist whose work investigates the relationship between structure, material behavior, scale, and color language.
Having lived and worked across Argentina, Barcelona, Torino, Lake Como, and Beijing, his trajectory is informed by a continuous exposure to diverse cultural contexts. This geographic and cultural mobility has enabled him to explore and incorporate a multilayered visual vocabulary that directly informs and expands his artistic research and its outcomes.
After more than two decades working internationally as a design director across automotive, private aviation, and naval design—including roles at Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design and BeyonCa in Beijing—his artistic practice emerges as a parallel inquiry into form beyond the constraints of functional design.
Where industrial design is defined by precision, control, and performance, Colombo Carbone’s work deliberately unsettles these conditions. Material is no longer fully governed; it resists, reacts, and asserts its own agency. Processes of erosion, accumulation, and transformation unfold through a dynamic exchange between intention and contingency.
Working primarily in large-scale painting and sculpture, his pieces establish a tension between the engineered and the organic. From a distance, they operate as spatial presences; in proximity, they reveal complex, stratified surfaces shaped through layered processes and deliberate material intervention.
The work marks a shift toward a more open visual language, where form emerges through the negotiation between structure and material autonomy—between control and release, the constructed and the unpredictable.
